'Just World News' -- the quick tour (by Helena)

To see the range of issues covered in this blog, scroll down on the front page and in the right-hand sidebar check out the 'Recent Posts' or, for a fuller listing, 'Topics'.  All the items under those headings-- like everything else on the blog that's in pink--are clickable links.

On that sidebar you'll also find:
Check out those features!

The front (or main) page on JWN has two columns.  The left-hand column carries the most recent posts that I've put up on the blog.  These are presented so that the most recent post is at the top.  If you're not used to reading blogs, that can seem strange at first.  Don't worry.  You'll get used to it.

Some of my posts are fairly lengthy.  So, to save space on the front page, there's a 'jump' feature there, just like that on the front page of printed newspapers.  If you want to continue reading the post, click on 'Continue reading...', and you'll be right there.  Much easier than newspapers.  No refolding balky tree products; no hassle.

Actually, the 'Continue reading' link takes you to the relevant point within the archived version of that post.  The 'content management' features on this blog, as on most blogs today, are simple but very powerful.  On this one, each post is archived separately and has its own URL.  When you go to the archived version, that page has on it the text of the whole post-- plus the texts of all the Comments that have been posted to it; plus, a box for you to add your own Comments.  In the listings of Comments, the most recent are added at the end, which gives each archived post its own discursive integrity.

Be aware that the Comments boards sometimes attract some fairly nasty (sexual or commercial) spam.  I do what I can to keep it out, but often fail.

Attached to each post is also a permanent, clickable Link to its archived version.  You can easily copy that link into anything you're writing.

The hundreds of individually archived posts can also be accessed  by 'Topic' or through the aggregated Monthly Archive indexes.

I encourage you to check out all these features!  Also, when you read the posts, join in the discussion on the Comments boards!
