Reconnect with what?
There is nothing to reconnect or talk with people that believe and teach that 9/11 was perpetrated by the CIA. The best response to 9/11 is unity. USA! USA! USA!

Dear Helena,

I have been thinking about your statement, "Immediately after 9/11, a world shocked by the hate-fueled and inhumane nature of those attacks..."
I cannot help but feel- watching our arrogated response to 9/11 juxtaposed with the recent war on Lebanon, fought by Israel and countenanced by the US- that if the Lebanese adopted the same attitude we did, would Americans understand their motive or would we still ask "why do they hate us" (Many Lebanese blamed America for the war because we supplied the bombs to Israel)? In fact, is this not the same line of thinking -I am not endorsing this in any way- extremist Jihadis took leading up to 9/11? Yet, the Lebanese are far from adhering to Al-Quaedism.

Post 9/11, I have fervently come to believe that "all politics are local (hats of to Tip O'Neill) and that I don't believe Bush when he says we are safer today than 5 years ago.
