One good place to start for a range of coverage of the experience Gaza's 1.38 million Palestinians are living through in this time of Israeli "disengagement" from their long-occupied Strip is Electronic Intifada's special portal to this.

What I find particularly galling about the MSM's failure to report the human plight of Palestinians in the occupied territory is the aspects of Israel's counterbalancing actions in the West Bank as part of its plan. I have seen only one mention of it, in an article by my US webserver (so that I don't know where else it might have been published). The ei article, http://electronicintifada.net/v2/article4078.shtml, is, of course, far better at giving the details of the sealing off of East Jerusalem that what I saw in my US webserver's article. Israel in effect appears to be trading Gaza for the rest of Jerusalem, given the likely devastation of the sealed-off Palestinian neighborhoods that will result from its actions.

Also, on this question, not surprisingly, iin his speech before the Washington Press Club on Friday, 8/12, the Israeli Ambassador did not mention that aspect of Israel's plans (see more of what he did say in my posting under H's other posting of 8/12 on Gaza). Egregiously, not a single one of the MSM's reporters there asked any question concerning that tradeoff or the devastating impact it will have on East Jerusalem neighborhoods, even though questions ended before the program's stated original time length.
